Hail in Jarabacoa, 2013

When you think of a tropical Caribbean island, I doubt you think "hail." Well, re-think...Today, while watching NFL football with friend at camp Moto, it started to rain, then the wind picked up, and them the hail started falling. Starting small and getting bigger, chunks the size of tennis balls came down and continued for at least 10 minutes. The hood of our SUV and the top of the MotoCaribe van now have some dents.

Riding the new Mountain Ridge road from El Rio to the outskirts of Jarabacoa on DL650's. The weather was perfect and the route was awesome, riding on top of the ridge for 27km.! If only the the battery had held out another 7 minutes!Fantastic ride, one we always look forward to!

MotoCaribe Rides the SW Dominican Republic Coast Highway

We ride from the coastal town of Barahona in the arid SW of the DR to a roadside scenic overlook past Playa San Rafael. It's the first stop of the day on a ride that goes to Bahia de Las Aguilas near the border town of Pedernales, and back.This ride is around 35km. on a road that snakes along the spectacular SW coast with rugged mountains to the west and the fantastic postcard-perfect Caribbean Sea to the east. Many riders tell us this is one of the most memorable rides of their lives, very similar to the Pacific Coast Highway in CA, with incredible ocean views, mountain twisties and elevation changes. 

Carnival La Vega TV Interview with Vento Curacao 2013

The MotoCaribe hosted Vento Curacao for a private group tour that included a day at Carnival in La Vega. We barely began walking around when a TV crew from a local station grabbed the group for a man-on-the-street interview.Robert got a chance to video the interview even though the music and beat was really loud! Fun time had by all!

Haiti Border on a MotoCaribe SW Tour

A short video by MotoCaribe guest Michael Duchow showing the flooding all around the road leading to the Haitian border crossing in Jimani. It was hot that day and his GoPro kept shutting down, but he captured a glimpse of the chaos on the road.The fresh water lake on the Haitian side is rising with no end in sight. It's gone up at least 10' in the last 5 years and already the second customs house has been flooded-you can see it on the left side of the road. The road is continually raised, and in spite of that we rode across two wide stretches with 6" of water across the road. 

MotoCaribe Rides from Las Galeras to Boca del Diablo (watch to the end)

Robert and Keith ride from the seaside village of Las Galeras at the end of the Samana Peninsulato the primordial cave at the entrance to Boca del Diablo and Playa Fronton. This route is one lane 8 km off the main road. It winds through a sparsely populated jungle area against marble cliffs.This segment is part of the day on the North Coast tour when we ride all of the tropical Samana Peninsula. Watch this one to the end. Riders can appreciate why.
